The only time that I can recall not eating what I was served was when they gave me liver and told me it was steak. Four year old me was not fooled.

If I had pitched a fit over something like that as a kid, I would have done without both pancakes and told my next meal was lunch - if I behaved myself.

Mom started sending us to stand in the closet if we didn't clean our plate. My brother would ask what's for dinner? If he didn't like it he just went into the closet. My other brother didn't like lima beans, he'd put them in his pocket.
