I've got a bunch of 55grain fmj's for 5.56, but I want to try some 70 grain Barnes TSX's on some deer. My question is, will they shoot higher or lower than the lighter and faster rounds. My thinking says they will hit lower because of slower muzzle velocity, but I don't think it is entirely that simple. Any way to guestimate as to how much different?

The bullets are kind of expensive. . . . so I don't want to waste any by loosing a bunch off paper.

It depends on the barrel, twist and length and where you are sited in now, + difference in propellant. In short you need to kill some paper to find out what the POI shift will be. BUT...If you are hitting center with the 55s you should be on the paper with the 70s at 50 yards.
