We take a million pics. These are all with a 11 pro max. No filters. Living at the lake presents many opportunities

    a whopping 8 megapixel
My first digital camera was a Sony Mavica that recorded 0.3 megapixel files on floppies at a cost of ~$800.

That sounds pitiful and it is. However, if you bought one when they first came out you were unusual. At the time, very few ads on eBay had photos. If you had photos, you had a huge leg up on the competition.

Despite the miserable specs and very high price, that camera paid for itself in about 2 weeks.

There's an interesting dichotomy between professional and amateur camera selection. Pros use them as tools and it doesn't matter how expensive they are if the ROI is reasonable. That's why they don't blink at huge prices for top-shelf digital SLRs; they use them every single day to make a living so they genuinely need the good stuff. Amateurs are completely different in that they won't buy expensive cameras for everyday use but the occasional well-heeled hobbyist will buy equipment so ridiculously expensive that no professional would ever consider owning it, only renting.

It's a fascinating subject, actually, but I'll stop before I write too much.

I acquired a Topcon 35mm SLR while in high school photography. Couldn’t afford anything else. We were not allowed to use color in this particular class. Our photography teacher told us we’d understand some day why he wanted us to learn the basics with B&W. One of my favorite classes.

Spent some time last night playing with my wife's new camera and trying it on the neighbors fireworks. The autofocus in the newer cameras is amazing. These were all done at ISO 64K F5.6-7.1 at 1/320 With the Canon RF 24-105 "kit lens". Jpegs straight from the camera, except the flap which was straightened. Interesting ! Was autofocus actually doing the work? I Ask because autofocus on my DSLR is a killer. I have to turn it off and set manually to near infinity. Then we can get some pics.

Used built in autofocus with the tracking function.

I had some that didn’t come out well if I had other lit areas in frame, seemed to grab those instead. But as long as the view was clear it seemed to get the majority of them focused pretty well.
