    What: Women's Gun Day
    Who: Texas Women Gun Owners
    When: February 13, 2019 at 9:30am
    Where: Texas Capitol Rotunda
Sponsors: OCT & Texas Girls and Guns.

**Calling all 2A Freedom loving Ladies**

Join us in Austin showing that Texas Women do not fall into the generalization of what Bloomburg groups such as moms demand action promote, they do Not speak for me as a woman, do they speak for you? Join us for a day of Solidarity, meeting and speaking to House Reps, Senators, a day of taking in the sights of Our Beautiful State Capital, a day of showing that as Texas Women, Moms, Grandmothers, we stand for the right to Bear Arms, to Defend Ourselves and Our Family.

All participants will receive an OCT t-shirt to present a unified effort.

We will meet on the south side of the capitol. We will provide you with talking points and the office address of House Reps. and Senators we plan to visit. Our group will have the opportunity to visit the TX House Chamber. After our visit to the House Chamber will break into 2 – 3 teams and knock doors expressing our need to see HB357 get a hearing. We will be visiting member of the State Affairs committee member to encourage them to pass HB357 out of committee.

How to prepare for a day at the Texas Capitol

Visiting the Capitol does not have to be daunting if you make a few preparations. It is good to print or download to your phone a layout of the building. Parking can be an issue on occasion. I suggest parking in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage. When you approach the parking garage from 12th St. and by chance the entrance light shows “full” you can simply pull the curb and wait until the light turns green for “open”. The maximum fee for this garage is $12. You may park at a meter but be mindful of the time you will spend inside the Capitol and the maximum time allowed on the meter.

Getting prepared for your trip to our State Capitol will make the difference between a very stressful day or a great day.

    • Always dress professional.
    • Wear comfortable shoes.
    • If you have a current LTC you can avoid possible long lines to enter the Capitol. (Feel free to open or conceal carry)
    • Take your fully charged phone, tablet or computer.
    • Bring an extra phone battery of pocket charger. (Don’t think you can plug in to charge just anywhere.
    • Connect to the Capitol Visitor WIFI
    • Take a small notebook.
    • Take a simple lunch, snacks and bottle of water. (You can grab lunch at the Capitol Grill but there is not always time on testimony days)
    • Know the office numbers House Members and Senators of you want to visit.
    • It is very helpful to call to arrange appointments ahead of time.
    • Take a copy of the bill(s) you wish to promote or discuss and/or amendments.
    • When you make contact in their offices make sure to get their business card. You can note the response you received from the senator, rep or staffer on the back. This is very helpful.

Good deal! I’m working on the thirteenth but hope lots of ladies show up!

Sorry you can't make this one. If you have any control of your schedule, please try to keep Wednesdays clear, as that is when the committees most likely to hear gun bills will be holding their hearings.
