    Yea...

Now a question... can those 275 grain .45s (sized .452) work in a .45 ACP? While I have a Ruger Redhawk .45 colt and a Ruger Vaquero .45 colt I also have a few .45 ACPs!

I am sure someone has done it for .45 ACP, but I personally would not. That bullet is just too heavy for a proper reload.

Do you have a HiPoint? lol. If you do, maybe try your hand at one of them first just in case. Also, size them down to .451 for .45 ACP... you will shave material off at .452.

I would not fire a 257-grain bullet in any of my 1911s or carbines, but that's me... there might be someone out there that has a recipe.

Well then I'll stick to the LC revolvers. No harm there. I do have lots of 200 grain SWCs and about 900 230 FMJs for my 1911s.

Heaviest I have loaded for 45 ACP is the Lee 452-255 RF, and it is not a load I would shoot hundreds of, although I have from some guys that it was their old bowling pin load.

I think you'll find 250-255gr rnfp are the most commonly used, for good reason. Manageable recoil and plenty of thump. I don't do heavies in the 45 LC since I don't hunt with it. I have made plenty of accurate ammo using 200gr SWCs made for the ACP. A few brands have done better for me than others. My classic go-to is 8.1gr unique under a 255gr Hornady swaged lead bullet or just about any other 250gr hardcast bullet.

I also get pretty good results with plated bullets in the LC. Berry's shoot great out of a Blackhawk hunter and a Rossi rifle. The only LC bullet I ever made for a 1911 used 200gr rnfp bullets and cycled and shot decent but not near as accurate as 200gr SWC.
