Interesting thought. Hm. When the metal oxides in a lithium-ion battery's positively-charged electrode are heated enough, they decompose and release oxygen. The moon has no oxygen in gaseous form. Can a Li-ion battery create enough of its own oxygen to allow a fire if a battery goes kapow on the moon? I'm betting someone here will know...

And does the rover look more than a little like a tow truck to anyone else?
