My son works for Space X in LA.... Had hands-on the wiring of up n' down vehicles!
Awesome. I work in McGregor. I run control console for daily ops and vehicle test for first stage, and do planning for ground equipment maintenance. For the first three years I was doing wiring, structures and components work for first stage.

I envy that environment. When one of those vehicles launch, or return, it's simply awe inspiring. I can only imagine the feeling of pride to be an intricate part of that total process.

Takes a lot of cogs to run the machine. We all do our part to do great things.

Public opinion and interest also helps drive the progress. Without that hype and interest it politically is much harder to do cool things

Buddy of mine was a metrologist in El Segundo, then Hawthorne, but left the company years back. The tours I got were awesome, talking to some of those propeller heads was even cooler.

This was right out in front of our Compound in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
No one was killed - miracle.
Not unusual for loads or Conexes to fall off trucks and crush folks.
Roads were/are like Goat Trails and get much worse in the Wet Season. Wet Season is 6 months per year.

We live just north of McGregor when they do engine test you can feel it .We don't work for Space X but both of us were grinning ear to ear when the capsule splashed down because we can hear the work y'all put into the motors ,and it made us proud of y'all and Texas
