    Read an article that said the police have still not filed formal charges against the POS. The victim is retired police officer.
    Having no LE background, what would take this long to file "formal charges"?

    Wouldn't there need to be some sort of "hate" attached to the beating for it to be considered a hate crime?

    And it the man doing the beating is just a bully, preying on the defenseless, that is just being mean, not hateful.
    Too simple of an answer/excuse for his behavior. In his mind, he probably hates something about the people he beats.

    No.......the two parties being of different races and ages constitutes a hate crime these days.
