Must admit the class wasn't very well run. The instructor spent more time telling stories about his time with Dallas PD. The semi-auto requirement also may have been related to the class location; we qualified before the learning portion of the class. The range let attendees in early to qualify before the range opened for general use. Mileage varies I guess.

IIRC, prior to 2013 if you qualified for a Texas CHL with a revolver, you indeed had to carry a revolver.

    Mawning misfits.
Slept in today. I ended up running a tank of gas through the chainsaw yesterday. When they say that the land was untouched, they weren't kidding. I still havent found the back property line yet. Hell im barely half way back & found what was supposed to be a dry creek, but with the rain there was about 3' of water in it. By then it was 5 & we started packing up & headed home.

That's not necessarily true. When you say that...
...I'm reminded of classes I've witnessed where the instructor started teaching before the new century started and hasn't changed anything about their class in the interim. OK, that may be an overstatement but within the past couple of years I've seen instructors use severely outdated Power Point slides that haven't been updated in at least a decade. Those are the same type of instructors that like to spend more time telling war stories than actually teaching the class.

I think it's possible that you had an instructor who just stopped learning 10 years ago and may not realize that the revolver/semi license classification is no longer a thing. I don't know how those guys manage to continue in ignorance of changes but, sadly, I know they're out there.

    So it's still red? :p

According to Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, there is no upper limit. YMMV
