Hunters will not put even the slightest dent in a hog problem. They will however shoot livestock by mistake, leave trash all over the place, leave gates open so livestock can escape. Just to name a few reasons. What I can't understand is land owners who say they have a wild hog problem they can't take care of, but want to charge several hundred dollars for you to get rid of their problem.
If you want to get access to someone else’s property to “help” with their hog problem, spend a couple of grand on the live time camera/ cell service operated corral traps and ask if you can set one up on their property free of charge.
Land owner may let you do it if they see that you can take pigs out 20-30 at a time in an area that eliminates the risk of you shooting one of their cows/horses/ dogs etc.
If you have ever been to a public range the week before hunting season you will know why land owners would rather have the hogs than the “help”.
