Shot 65 more rounds through it today. 115 gr federal ball ammo. I’m at a total of 335 rounds down the pipe so far, no issues.

Gotta say modern polymer guns are far more pleasant guns to shoot than this. Shot a friends VP9 and recoil is about the same if not lighter on the VP9. The VP9 is also much more comfortable to hold and shoot, as are my glocks. I guess thats what they call progress. As stated a few times before, this gun digs into your web while you’re shooting and it’s just not that pleasurable. I can tolerate it, however.

I’m still pleased with the gun and my overall ownership experience of it so far.

Caved and sent it off to SA to see what they say about the crooked hammer. Should be back in about two weeks though once they had my gun back to me in 3 days. Still not functioning correctly, but 3 days.

I saw that Garand Thumb had the same issue with one of his SA35’s having a crooked hammer that was rubbing.

Gun just arrived back from SA. The hammer was replaced and is now straight in the channel rather than canted to one side. The trigger is better now. I’ve noticed that when I send back guns to SA for warranty work related to fire control / ignition parts, the guns do come back with a nicer trigger.

As compared to how I described it before below, it now just has some take up, then gets to the wall, then it just breaks. No more creep at all.

It has a hair under 1/8” of pre-travel before you get to a wall, then 1/16” of creep with a clean consistent break. Not the best trigger I’ve ever felt, but very far from the worst. I’d say it’s pretty decent for a non-1911.

They did neglect to return the o rings I had on my grip screws but overall I’m satisfied with the warranty repair so far. Since only the hammer was replaced I’d like to think my round count I had through it so far is still good for my ongoing reliability test.

Finally passed 800 rounds by running 200 rounds through it today.

Results of the test below. Springfield has definitely not solved the FTE problems as of yet.

I can send it to SA for warranty, but prior experience tells me they probably won’t be able to fix it, but will send it back saying it’s fixed anyway.

I’ll probably swap the extractor for a Browning/FN made part, or contact Ed Vandenberg to see if he can work his magic on it.

I dropped the SA35 and my Colt Wiley Clapp off with Ed Vanden Berg.

I don’t trust SA to fix it due to past experience, I’d much rather leave it with someone who’s more qualified to get it in running order. Might order a browning / FN made extractor to let him install if he thinks it necessary while he already has it.

Looks like the extractor took a chunk out of the rim. Gotta he special to do something like that and not rip the case out of the barrel.

I have several SA products and have only had one occasion to send anything to SA for repair. The gun was repaired and returned to my satisfaction.

I have several SA rifles and pistols. I've been satisfied with the accuracy, dependability and prices. However the last few pistols have been Dan Wesson.
I haven’t picked up any of their rifles. I may one day purchase a M1A for shits and grins. It’s a true grandpas rifle, I would probably just get the entry grade for shooting lake city 762 nato.

I’ve owned three Springfields and all of them had to go back so far. My new at the time SA Loaded 1911 (2014, when they started making them in the US) had a dead trigger after a few hundred rounds. Firing control group had somehow failed. Also didn’t run 100% reliably before and after I sent it back.

Seems like everyone but me has luck with their products.

Picked it back up from Vanden Berg. He said changing the extractor for a browning made unit wasn’t necessary, and just reamed the chamber instead.

100 rounds monarch 115 gr ball, 0 malfunctions.
Before I dropped it off with him, it couldn’t get through two consecutive mags without having FTE issues

I’ll probably need to run another 500-600 rounds through before I trust this gun again though lol.
