Some months ago, I saw a little blip in the Georgetown news paper about a new range opening in Georgetown. Since then, I've heard zip.

Anyone got any info on that??

Hey cb, I posted the same question back in March. From what little info I could glean, they were supposed to be opening in Winter of 2018 and be located somewhere around the intersection of SH 195 and Shell Rd.. I've driven around that area but can see no evidence of any groundbreaking or even signs.
They had a page on FB but it no longer appears to be there. One of their last posts mentioned going before the city council or zoning to get approval. I can only speculate that they were denied approval or lost funding.
I might try the C of C but I'm not very optimistic.

Hopefully it won't go the way of the range that opened in San Marcos a couple of years ago. I was there on opening day, and it was shut down within two weeks.

    How does that happen?
Lawyers. Land owners around the range started complaining and hired some lawyers. They took metal detectors out on their land, found some bullets that MUST have come from the range. Took their case to a judge and they shut it down.
