    Guess we're old fashioned. I rotated out using A1's & A2's with iron sights.

    No one got a scope unless you were squad marksman. I believe our son's MCRD platoon was among the last to not have optics, as I recall seeing some raw recruits with ACOG's while vising him during Family Day (2012).

    Wow, all I could think of reading the link was, "CRAP! I'd be a frickin sharpshooter, MAYBE!!" My Expert score/badge was based on a calculated decision to not even try for the very farthest targets, and to use the extra rounds on any of the pop ups that didn't fall when engaged at shorter distances. Worked for me for every qual that used actual distance ranges (*and not where we shot all targets at 50 yards, they were just adjusted to be basically the size we'd see if it were actually at whatever distance it was supposed to be).

    THEN I see they get to use optics? NICE!!! Game ON!
