    NASA is aiming to set the record for the longest shot - 7 million miles to hit an asteroid with a 560ft diameter. The spacecraft will hit the asteroid at 15,000 mph - to move the asteroid a fraction of an inch. The impact is scheduled to hit at 6 pm CST today, and you can check it out live here:

    Yes, but now the test is if it actually did anything.
    It was a small asteroid orbiting a larger one - the intent of the impact was to shift the orbit so that the frequency of the little one orbiting the big one changes - which is something they can tell from here. There is also - I believe - another space ship that is supposed to go by and take pics of - dust clouds? Anyway - they won't know for a week or two.
