    Friends,

This post may well be the oddest request ever on the forum but it is NOT a prank/joke.

My military boarding school has owned a M1 75mm Pack Howitzer, which is used as a ceremonial gun, since shortly after WWII. - It has metal wheels with rubber tires.

It was recently refurbished & I have been asked to find/purchase a standard ARMY CANVAS COVER for protecting the little artillery piece from the elements & other possible damage, when it is transported to & from numerous events. - It is normally towed with an Army Jeep.

IF any of our members has a source where I can buy an Army issue canvas cover for the gun, PLEASE notify me at: K3CSA@yahoo.com

    THANKS, satx

As a MACV MAT team leader we had a VC in our area who had 75 pack howitzer we had given the Viet Mein to fight the Japanese in WWII. He was an excellent shot at blowing up bunkers and bridges. He was frugal with the ammo. I never caught him or understood where he got the ammo. He never killed any of my folks but was a huge nuisance. I secretly admired him.

    oldag,

Inasmuch as "the little cannon that could" was a "parting gift" from a WWII Flag Officer, who was an alumni of our school, money wouldn't buy it, as it's PRICELESS to all of our ex-cadets.
(I'm told that the M1 howitzer was used in The Battle of the Bulge.)

Another place to check would be with military vehicle collectors.
