    i like the 308 since its easy to reload and if all h
    =ll breaks loose u got plenty in the military bunkers to scavenge from ;) and it has a punch to bring down anything around texas and why not go over kill:army:

    Is his primary use going to be hunting or range use? A lever-action rifle in .30-30 is hard to beat. Ruger also makes an American rifle in 7.62x39 that would do for his needs.....if he doesn't want to spring for the CZ version.

    I understand.....but the dust cover can be replaced by one with a rail.

    The Ruger american ranch in 762x39 is a fine rifle. Taught my son at the range on one, and it drops deer just fine.

    I also have a Howa mini action in 6.5 Grendel that is nice.

    I buy a box of Hornady 6.5 Grendel or 7.62x39 every time i walk into academy
