Any of You Mp5 guys have experience with various mp5 mags?

    Like,
    Korean
    MKE
    Magpul
    ETS.
    POF
    Unity
    PTR?

I need 4 to 6 more and they arent cheap. I bought some of the century imports and watched videos on the others. I'm leery on trying plastic with no metal feed lips.

Apparently MKE and Century are made on HK machines.

Straight versus curved? I understand curved is better.

    Other words of wisdom.

    Out here by the lake!
I’ll stick with the German made factory mags for my MP5K. I waited on the Magpul drums but they were problematic with the front pistol grip.

And just because someone has an H&K machine doesn’t mean anyone
    A) put it together correctly
    B) checked it to be in spec
    C) read the operators manual
    D) could comprehend what they read
    E) feeding it proper material
    F) understands quality control

My usage may vary from yours.

Mke. Works fine with fmj. Not JHP or glat nose

Kci gen 1, same experience. Fine with FMJ

ETS, garbage. Fed fmj about 80% of the time.

I'd just stick with HK mags

From what I've been able to gather the HK factory the metal factory that century imports and POF are the top 3.

I've found MKE metal 2 packs for 95 bucks but have heard nothing about them.

    The quest continues.

Mke has german tooling, but i suspect they are building to an older standard not optimized for feeding non-fmj ammo

Factory German work the best. I tried the AC Unity plastic magazines, but had nothing but problems.

Any particular HP ammo that works the best?

I think critical duty looks pointy enough not to have issues. Although dual service of FMJ is probably just as effective. Buy one get one free.

I fairly recently attended an HK MP5 school in Dallas. Decided to run some Unity mags I had to see if they could survive. Most of the rest of the class were HK fan boi’s, and only ran factory HK mags. It was fun watching them grimace on failure drills when their factory mags hit the gravel.

It was a 1000 roundish (124gr FMJ range fodder) course over two days. Both semi and full auto drills. Happy to report the Unity mags passed with flying colors. No jams of and kind. No broken feed lips. None of them melted. They performed flawlessly the whole weekend, and made some believers out of the “factory mags or nothing” crowd.

They did take some fitting with a flat file, but I like it as I can work on them until they fit tight with no wobble.

I suggest you also get some HK factory mags to have, but Unity are great range mags, and I like the window feature. Primary Arms usually has the best price on factory mags when in stock. Seen them as low as $61.99 pre tax/shipping. Sign up for their back in stock notification.
