Texas Gun Talk Monthly 10 Shot Rimfire Challenge
25 & 50 yards- shoot one or both.

(This is borrowed, with some slight modifications for now, from Rimfire Central)

    SCORING THREAD LOCATED HERE:

    http://www.texasguntalk.com/forums/rimfire/41607-official-rimfire-contest-scoring-thread.html
THE RULES for the 10 SHOT MATCH (25 and 50 yds)
Post your score in this thread, below the rules:

    1. DISTANCE: From the front edge of the bench to the face of the target: 25 yards and 50 yds. Targets can be shot indoor or outdoor. Prone or from the bench- Shooter's preference.

    2. TARGET: We use a 10 bull version of the USBR target. The official USBR target has 25 record bulls and 3 sighter bulls.
You can download a copy of the 10 bull target here. Your choice: Green or Black. The 2 sighter bulls are important for checking wind changes. Use them.

    Black Target:

    Green Target:

    3. TIME: A maximum of 15 minutes is allowed to fire sighter shots and one shot at each of the 10 record bulls. No limit on the number of sighter shots.

    4. SCORING: You score your own targets, or have someone score for you. These matches are run on the honor system. When posting the score, you are required to ALSO include: a) type of gun/optic; b) type of ammo; c) distance/method shot(bench or prone); d) weather conditions/other factors affecting scoring; e) Which classification did you follow- rookie, marksman, or expert; and f) any pics you can provide of gun/optic/conditions/target.

    POST SCORES IN THIS THREAD:

IF THE SHOT BREAKS THE LINE, CLAIM CREDIT FOR THE HIGHEST POINT.

    5. Three Classifications: Rookie, Marksman and Expert...
Everyone starts out as a Rookie classification and works their way up the 'ladder' based on posted scores for record. Once you have achieved Marksman or Expert Classification you will not lose that classification.

    Classes:

'Rookie' - can shoot 'unlimited' practice 10 Bull targets per month, shoot four (4) official scoring targets and post one (1) for record for the month.

'Marksman' can shoot a maximum of 10 practice 10 Bull targets per month, shoot two (2) official scoring targets and post one (1) for record for the month.

'Expert' can shoot a maximum of 4 practice 10 Bull targets per month, shoot one (1) official scoring target and post one (1) for record for the month.

    Required scores:

    Rookie - (0-0X to 96-9X) qualification.

Marksman - (97-0X to 99-9X) qualification with three aggregate scores to qualify.

Expert - (100-0X to 100-10X) qualification with three aggregate scores to qualify.

Official Attempts for score should be declared prior to shooting. Rookies get four (4), Marksmen get two (2), Experts get one (1).

We will see. If I make it more challenging, then I think we will have an unforgiving game for newbies. I am probably going to post an easier game and harder one just to cover all skill levels.

It's not that confusing really. People who want to go for "expert" status are limited to a certain amount of practice targets, sighter shots, and only allowed 1 attempt at an official target. In other words, you can't shoot this target 500 times and finally get a perfect score AND declare yourself an expert.
