Nada, Nothing...The form will be on record where you made the purchase until they go out of business and then bundled and sent to the BATF where there are countless millions stored. They are prohibited by Federal Law to record those records but likely do for the day they can rise like a rattlesnake and bite American gun owners. Wear high leather, snake proof boots, carry a 12 guage and don't fret the address business.

    Howdy,

I recently purchased my first gun. I filed out the 4473 form, had the background check, and everything went fine. But when I got home, I realized I may have put the wrong address for my current residence.

I am currently living on my parents property near my college, but my drivers license has my other address 4 hours away. I put down my college town residence.

Which address should I have put? The one I am currently staying at, or the one on my drivers license? If I did give the wrong address, what could happen? Should I correct it? And how would I correct it?

    Thanks.

The 4473 HAS to match the address on your license otherwise the FFL made a mistake.

Alan, the mistake was on the FFL, right? No potential trouble for the OP?

I don't think they can hold the buyer for anything, but the FFL basically sold the gun with an invalid ID.

The deal is already done, but if you wanted to "correct it" then you could call the FFL, explain the mistake, and see if they want you to come in and correct the 4473 with the current address.

If you call back to correct it, you're going to have to return the gun until you have ID to match the addy on the 4473. If I'm reading this right, you're staying with your folks right now, but will be returnin' to the addy on your ID, right? Either way....way too much angst over this. Go foreward, my son, and sin no more - for this one, thou art forgiven!

I always put my address from my license on it even though I dont live there. I technically own the house but I dont live there.
