Hi folks, I studied at university down here in Texas and am working a fulltime job down here now, too. I haven't yet declared residency and am wondering if, as a Missourian, I can purchase a rifle in this great state. I've heard most FFLs won't because of possible conflicts of law but I know it is legal for some states, and I believe Missouri is in the latter group.

    Welcome

Big box stores probably won't sell to you because of company policies suggested by their shysters.
So what would your suggestion be? Wait to buy until I declare residency or could I still attend shows or small shops? I'm really just looking for a bolt action for hunting if that is of any consequence.

Just got to a local gun store and as long as you can pass a 4473 (ie you arent prohibited) and the firearm you want to purchase is legal back home in Missouri, which everything you buy here should be legal there, then you should be good to go.
