I’ve had this project in mind for several months and finally got it wrapped up.

Started with a donor 336 in 30-30, sent the barrel out to have 4” lopped off and to get threaded. Dan of Grumpy’s Guns out of Arlington took it a step farther and put the flash hider on the lathe and milled off a little bit to get it indexed without using shims. Can’t say enough about good about Dan, that was an extra step he took on his own and it sure makes a difference not seeing shiny shims on a black rifle. He also worked hand in hand on getting the mag tube shortened and making sure everything would mount right back up without issues.

Next trip was down to Alamo Precision Rifles for some time with Charlie. He did a bang up job on the Cerakote and I had them do everything, including all of the new parts so they’d match.

Haven’t had a chance to get to the range just yet but she seems nice and smooth action wise and I’m ready to sling some lead!

    Parts list includes -

    Ranger Point Trigger
    Ranger Point Hammer Extension
    Ranger Point Loading Gate
    Midwest Ind. Handguard
    Hoptics USA Quiver
    Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 24 & Mount
Dead Air Flash Hider for the can
XS Sights Lever Rail Ghost Ring Sights
Boyd’s Laminate Stock in “Pepper” finish

Tell ya what ... I think this build just took my JM 336 off the chopping block. I'm exactly goofy enough to build one for myself.

I figured there would be some differing opinions lol!

I’ve still got my old faithful wood stock one for the purists, don’t worry fellas.

This was a fun build for sure and I don’t think there’s anything I’d change. It’ll be a great truck gun and a conversation starter for sure. I like it a lot more than the factory “Dark 30” or whatever they’re called that Marlin sells now.

Plus...bonus points for the immediate ability to wad up some die hard lever guy panties hahaha.

    Total fail. No oversized lever.:clown:

    Hahahaha!

Never have been able to get behind those. I’ve got a Ranger Point “medium loop” in the safe that I’m going to try out but I’m not sure it’ll make the cut. Something about all that room for your fingers to fly through and then slam into the lever that I’m not sold on.

I hunt in places where it is cold. Try shooting a big loop while wearing gloves. You will be sold.
