Cannot locate them. Supposedly the Magpul “AK mags will not work.

Anybody know what mags will work? I’m new to this caliber in AR platform.

One thing you'll want to do is dremel down the front of the mag. I had issues with bullet tips sagging and catching the mag, because of the shape of the case. Load no more than 25 in a 30rnd mag, but the 20rnd mags work better. Here's a pic of the mag mod.

Some needed more than others, just make sure the top rnd fully clears the lip.

Thanks for posting tunabeater. I'll have to try that on a few of mine. I bought 3 or 4 brands and the 10 rounder had the least issues. I also heard your buffer/spring could play a role in reliability. Supposedly too much bolt speed will make them nosedive too.

Forgot to mention I installed a bcm extractor spring and a h2 buffer. I also had widen the feed ramps for 30 cal, but I think most uppers now use a 300blk with proper ramps. ymmv

No problem. Don't mind sharing what I find while debugging issues.

That being said, even though it seems to work fine now, I can't stop looking at either a Galil Ace or CMMG resolute so I can use AK mags and not worry about the wrong mag well geometry.

    Not where you are
The main reason I went with a windham AR in 7.62x39 was they designed the upper and mags to work reliably. I have only used their mags but the weapon has had no feed/eject issues and I have not had to modify anything on mags.

Slap a 556/300 BO upper on it as well since the mag well is std AR.
