Not sure where to put this so, here goes. What could I expect to get for a very nice Leupold VX-3 4.5-14X50 scope? Matte finish and very good condition. There are a couple of small nicks on the scope and I tried to show them. No ring marks, and no scratches on the glass. It has the Mil Dot reticle like the lower one in the 4th picture.
I want to list it but don't know what to ask for it. Thanks for any help you may have.

Private message what you paid for it. I'm not interested in buying a scope but I just sold a nice 2.5x10 to another member and I'll tell you what I did to arrive at a price.

$400-$500 is a fair market price if in excellent condition.
Not for that scope. 1" tube, SFP, with 1/4 moa turrets & a Mil-Dot reticle.
In todays market, that's probably one of the worst spec'd scopes you could buy. It's 1970's technology in a 2020's world.
Leupold makes a nice hunting scope, but putting a ranging reticle in a hunting scope is kind of silly and only uneducated scope buyer's would buy one set up that way.

$200 - $250 would be my estimate.

I tend to agree. Leupold site says $499 new for the duplex version. $350 wouldn't be bad, but not a fab deal. IMO.

Most used scopes bring around 50% of their New price for scopes that cost under $1k.
The top tier scopes like S&B, March, Nightforce, etc., usually sell for 2/3 of their original prices. I usually pay around $2000 - $2500 for a $3000 - $3500 scope used.

A good indicator is seeing what discontinued scope models sell for brand new. Most can be bought for 35% - over 50% less than their original prices.

I agree txhillbilly. The last Leupold I bought was and ar mod series that were selling for right at 40-50% off retail due to discontinuation.

Although an odd reticle choice, you can't go wrong with a Leupold. GLWS geezer.
