Local Sheriffs and Police Chiefs are often at odds.......one is elected by County vote and one is chosen by the city council/manager.....

Sheriffs tend to be conservative and Police Chiefs more Liberal..............

There is more to this story...............

In Texas every County must have a Sheriff per our Constitution...........Police departments are not....
