I bought the gun back in the 90's and haven't shot it in several years. I also bought RCBS dies, brass and a lot of Hornady XTP 95gn hollowpoint bullets but never loaded any. I thought I might load some and try out.
Any suggestions as to powder etc. I looked at the Hogdon loading data on the net and I do have some Universal powder which they show a range of 3.6 to 4.0 grns but I don’t know if some other powders are better.
    Thanks

I use Unique in my .45 Colt. The only thing is that it does not burn very clean in those loads. How is it in the Mak?

I have searched the interweb for load data and I also tried heavy .380 Auto and light 9X19 load data.

I tried to find 9X18 brass years ago and just started trimming 9X19 brass (because it is cheap and plentiful), then resizing with Lee dies.
    The trimmed/resized 9X19 works fine.

I bought bulk steel cased 9X18 but that is disposable cases for the times I don't pick up my fired cases.

I will look in my printouts of 9X18 load data to see the few different powder/loads I came up with.

I tried to seat some of the Hornady XTP bullets and unused starline brass that I had bought years ago and it appears that the RCBS die sized the brass down too much so that when the bullets are seated the cases have a slight bulge where the bullet is. Also, the top edge of the brass does not appear to have any crimp and sticks out slightly.

My Hornady handload manual (8th Edition) has a listing and recommendations for the 9X18 Makarov round.
The usual powders are 700X, HP-38, W231,Unique etc. They only list the 95 gr. bullet but I cast some LRN 115 gr. .365 or .366.

    motorcarman,

Could I buy a FEW DOZEN of the .366LRN cast bullets from you??
(I want to experiment with some small to medium game loads for/in my 9.3x62mm pump rifle & would rather NOT have to buy molds for that caliber in 9x18mm, in case the "experiment" doesn't work out.)

    yours, satx
