New construction doesn't seem to have slowed much if at all in the big master planned communities at least. Trades are busy and booked too. We're about to ink a contract (probably today) for a big kitchen remodel, and after talking with several contractors we're hearing the same thing there. They're busy. Some of course are just trying to secure the business and over-promising, but the more realistic ones are being open and honest about their schedules. Long story short, we'll be pleased to have it wrapped up in the fall.
Costs have gone up, but it's way more complex of an issue than just simple inflation. Been coming for a while too, it seems. Sort of a perfect storm of covid impacted production shrinkage, tariffs, environmental impacts, seasonal demand, etc.
