I just transferred one of those for a customer. He bought it used and whoever owned it before him hd that trigger set so heavy it was insane like a 6 pound trigger pull. slick rifle though.

Heh, I guess the previous owner kinda missed the point of a two-stage trigger. Was it a full or partial KIDD build and how much did he pay for it (if you don't mind me asking)?

I 100% encourage you to build a custom KIDD. This is my first full-build and I can tell you it won't be my last. I'm not sure I can buy a stock 10/22 anymore. If enough of us show up to the next meet with KIDDs in hand then maybe we can make Scott jealous enough so that he'll quit making excuses and join the club...

(he's kind of a snob with his oh-so-special Anschutz)

Hear that, Scott?! The gauntlet is down! BOOM!

As long as I don't have to shoot against your wife... LOL.

So, I had a chance to take the new KIDD out to the range yesterday and had a blast getting her sighted in. My wife and boy came along with rifles that had to be zeroed alongside mine so I was a pretty busy guy trying to get them set up AND have some time to shoot for myself. I had one box of Wolf Match Target and one box of Wolf Match Extra left over so I decided to use the Match Extra to get her on paper and maybe shoot an initial group then switch over to the Match Target to see how tight I can get it. All shots were taken at 50 yards from sandbag rests supporting the foregrip and my weak-hand supporting the bottom of the shoulder stock. The wind was a little gusty and seemed to shift all over the place... wish I had flags.

Anyway here are some pics of how the new rifle shoots:

This is the second 10-shot group from the 40gr. Wolf Match TARGET after getting her on paper with the Match Extra. I had one flyer that brought the group up to just under 3/4". My heart was thumping just from walking back and forth to switch targets in the heat and I could definitely count the beats through my scope. All in all, not too bad but I thought I could do better... once my heartrate slowed down a bit. I have to get used to the trigger on this puppy. It so damn light compared to my wife's KIDD.

Here's a look at some Casey targets using the Wolf Match TARGET and Wolf Match Extra loads. Once my heart calmed down a bit I was able to pull off a 10-shot group with the Match TARGET that fell in at just over half an inch. It's still going to take me some time to get used to the ridiculously light trigger on this rifle but I'll get there. By contrast, the Match EXTRA loads were all over the place. I won't be using those in the KIDD any more.

I'm not sure why the windage shifted a little between the sighting target to these Casey targets for the Match Target load. I checked the scope to make sure it was still tight and it was. I'm going to hold off on fine-tuning the windage until I find the ammo that shoots the tightest groups. I have some Eley, SK, and RWS boxes on order and shipping soon. Once they come in I'll have a go at this again.

Overall, I'm VERY happy with how she shoots. I had a number of people walk up and complement the rifle. Some of them even complemented my shooting but I don't mind being overshadowed by the new rifle

A bit of a thread hijack, but thought I would throw up some Tac-Sol rimfire porn before I post the picture of my Surgeon with the can on and really make Scott hate me.. :)

Sugarland. That C-More is a great sight. I like it because it is what I have on my 38 Super Open guns too.... makes the buckmark a nice practice gun on top of being great for steel challenge and STC.

So I shot off a number of different ammo brands this weekend - Eley Team, Target, Match and Tenex plus a couple of RWS loads. The RWS 50 won hands down. Here's the best 5-shot group after seasoning the barrel.

The group measures just a hair under 0.25 inches. Shot from the bench, foregrip supported on a rest and the stock supported by my weak hand. I'm starting to get used to the break on the KIDD rifle's match trigger.

The RWS 50 is pretty expensive stuff - roughly three times the cost of the Wolf Match I've been using. Great load nevertheless but I won't be buying much of it.
