I bought a CZ BRNO ZKM 452 (made in 1957) .22LR and noticed the 'safety' is hard to manipulate.

Doing a search I found that most of the safeties are 'stiff'.

Anyone ever polished or 'smoothed' a safety on one of these?

I guess I'll disassemble the bolt and see what I can do about it. I don't really need it as I don't chamber a round if I am not shooting but I would like everything to operated properly.

Haven't fired it yet but people claim these to be accurate.

I take apart just about everything I own so I would not hesitate to try to slick up it's functionality.
That rifle is a great walking and plinking gun and the safety ought to be optimizable.

It's been in continuous production about 2/3 century. That happen when something is designed right, eh?
    An early one. Nice buy!

    Let us know.

I took the bolt apart and wow was it 'gunked-up'!
I soaked the parts in solvent and scraped the carbon from all the crevises.

Polished the safety and it is better but I might use some Bore-Bright and work it a few hundred times.

I picked up some Aguila subsonic 60gr .22LR ammo to see if it can lessen the 'supersonic-crack' with the 24"+ barrel.

I like that it has a long barrel like my Remington Model 510 Target Master.

    Loads, feeds, fires, ejects GREAT.
I did have some CCI subsonic 40 gr to try out. Just a bang without the supersonic 'crack'.

Very accurate as far as I can tell with just a few rounds.
