A close friend is going through some hard times and was asking if there are any kind of jobs that he could work driving (using) his own truck. A Waste management company offered him $18/hour but he doesn't wanna pick up thrash in his new truck.

    Any suggestions ?

Got himself a new F150 4x4 full size last year or so.

If he's inclined. Lots of guys around here go buy firewood at a lot, on the cheap.
Drive to affluent areas and park in a lot, backed up toward the street. Tailgate down. Put up a sign with a delivered price.
    They don't sit long.

How much money does he think he can make in an F-150?

There's a huge shortage of semi drivers in the Houston area. Where I work, we have trouble getting dumpsters picked up, tankers delivered, etc. If he has a CDL, there's all sorts of work.

CDL drivers are in demand nationwide, but that is a far cry from a guy with a regular license and a half ton truck.

Having a truck in TX doesn't really open a lot of doors for your buddy.

Swift transportation will put him in a motel in San Antonio. They will show him the basics.

Then he has his CDL. Swift has comfort zones. Mine was Texas east to the most north was Tennessee. Florida....looped back to Texas. Pirate movies are $1-$2. Flying Hook truck stops.... Joplin Missouri....your driving your house....

Sweet CDL jobs ... Companies that run dedicated for TSC, Wal-Mart. Jcpenny.

Dr pepper and HEB are sweet driving jobs.

A light work day driving is 500miles. Get satellite radio! Hell, install a BOSE home theater speaker system in the Sleeper. Plug in ice box. It's the ultimate mini man cave.

Once he and his truck make friends. It's like driving a lazy boy recliner across country. He'll get to see the most batshit crazy people too.

If he wants more of a hands on thing. Bull hauling. But it's not for the faint of heart.

Not sure if Houston still has a greensheet paper but if not maybe he can put up/out some ads to haul off trash or strap iron.
