I'd WAY prefer to destroy them from afar than put boots on the ground. Even bombers close to their borders give me the willies. Long to medium range missiles, please. Better to have collateral damage on their side than risk even one avoidable death on ours. Technology, use it.

I think the only way to cripple Iran would be to completely destroy their navy, including all the small fast attack boats they have. Remove their ability to influence or cut off the Strait of Hormuz, and their options become much more limited in terms of affecting things on a global scale.
