Senate is waiting for a quorum now. Dems aren't showing up for the vote, no quorum, no vote. standard tactics.
I hope there is a rule in place to arrest any member and bring them back for a vote (if they indeed go this route). This same B.S. happened here in Texas a few years ago.

I'm rooting for Bernie. That said I dont know if he could win a 2 way dem primary against anyone. As long as several stay in hes ok.

Many of those fools will stay in hoping for a contested convention. In that case, the way things look now, Bernie would be in the lead unless they wake up. Then all bets are off. I would love to see Sanders as the nominee and get the communist socialist bullshit soundly rejected.

I think Bidens ruined, Warren screwed herself, Neuman is a lost cause who doesnt know it yet, the rest are nobody's. Bloomberg is unknown right now and probably till the convention.

I am wondering, if and when the Senate actually votes to acquit (which I am guessing they will do this week) - how long will it be before the libturds either try to impeach President Trump again or before the first assassination attempt. I do not ask that lightly; I believe when the impeachment fails, the Democrats will have only two options to prevent him from remaining in, and from winning a second term in, office. I think either they will try to impeach him or one or more of their minion will try to kill him. In truth, I am quite surprised there already has not been an attempt on his life by one of the loonies on the left. Now that I think of it, maybe there is another option left to them and that would be a violent revolution and that may not be as far fetched as it may appear, what with the absolute hateful madness that is festering within Democrats and aimed at the president and all who support him, all because their version of wonder woman did not beat him in the election.

Certainly there will be some extremist idiots (AOC and her kind) who will try to get another round of House impeachment going, but the moderate voters for the upcoming election are already burned out on impeachment BS, and another round would be too much for them. I don't believe Ds in the House will be allowed to hurt their party's chances in this upcoming election by wasting more time on impeachment -- quite likely they've already done too much political damage to themselves.

I've read that the DNC is playing with their convention rules so if Bernie comes to the convention with a majority they can find a way to freeze him out. If I stumble across that stuff again, I'll post back here with links.

    I wonder.

Last time around, there was a large field of bickering Republican candidates doing the circular firing squad thing until the last man standing was the most out-there guy that everybody agreed couldn't win the general election. Everybody knew that his "bullshit (would be) soundly rejected", right?

Except things didn't turn out that way.

If the election of Trump was a rejection of the status quo then I'm forced to wonder how much more forcefully the electorate could reject the status quo in 2020 than by electing a bumbling old communist who literally wants to destroy everything that makes America great.

I think Bernie would produce a massive defeat for the Dems and probably hand control of the House back to the GOP. I think.

But if the results were 180 degrees different, I wouldn't be terribly shocked.

Bernie is a wild card. I'd rather Trump run against Sleepy Creepy Joe.

Bernie is indeed a wild card, and while I think Trump will defeat any D, 2016 says Bernie is a risk.

Remember in 2016, Bernie was the D polling most favorably against Trump, even in states where we thought his socialist BS would hurt his appeal, and that directly attacks the Biden value proposition -- Biden is supposed to be this moderate candidate with broad appeal because he's a typical wishy-washy politician with no real platform, and Bernie is supposed to be the extremist, but the polling numbers in 2016 showed Bernie's politics were not a problem.

Bernie was able to quickly raise a truckload of cash, and Bernie has a zealous following of supporters across all age groups. 2020 could be different, but thus far, Bernie has had zero problem raising real money, so it appears there are enough extremists in the population centers to fund Bernie all the way, once again.

No other D can make the same claims as Bernie -- polls well against Trump, raise real money, rabid base, broad appeal.

Biden can raise money, but many on the left find him creepy and part of the problem, not their magical "progressive" solution. Biden, again, is supposed to have appeal to moderate fence-sitters, but history shows that fence-sitting moderates are going to re-elect Trump because the economy has been doing well for Trump's entire term.

We all agree Trump will likely win. Remember that in the entire history of the USA, when the economy is doing OK or better, the incumbent President has never lost a re-election bid. However, there are no guarantees, so if I'm hoping for a particular Trump opponent to maximize Trump's chances of re-election, I'm not hoping for Bernie, I'm hoping for a Warren / Bloomberg type ticket.

I'm not totally convinced Biden really wants to win, or maybe it's that at times he doesn't really know he's running. The democrat party is fractured, many of the more moderate will never vote for Bernie, and possibly vote for Trump to make sure Bernie doesn't win. In any case, Trump has been getting stronger, and the more the democrats spend their energy trying to reverse the 2016 election, the more 2020 slips through their hands.

Not me. I believe Biden by far has the best chance of beating Trump because he is not so far left as the others.

Give people a stark choice - socialism or Trump. I believe people will hold their noses and choose Trump.

^ This or Bernie does not get a contested convention (as others here have speculated) and his supporters either don't vote or vote for Trump out of spite.

Apparently Clinton's people are negotiating with Biden and Bloomberg's people that Clinton be their VP in a contested convention.

I assume Bernie would say phuck you to her but who knows.

That woman is almost as insidious as RBG is hard to kill.
