Heavy safes require sturdy foundations. Some are too heavy to have upstairs and could potentially bow your floors over the years. Corners are stronger.

I prefer to have things out of sight. Out of sight, out of mind. You're more likely to be ratted out or robbed by company employees doing service in your house or friends of employees and friends or friends of people that have been inside your home.

Neighbors watching you load your vehicle for a range day and have nothing better to do than tell every Tom, Dick, and Harry how many guns you walked out of your house with.

Years ago, my parents were burglarized during the half hour window of when my Dad left for work and when my Mom came home from her morning routines. People were watching and/or it was an inside job from my sisters shithead boyfriend at the time.

    Thanks all, appreciate the feedback.
Not directly in sight, on a concrete foundation, first floor, temp / humidity controlled, (avoiding lakes DD), and adding adding Gold Apollo pagers for security against shady characters :)
    What did I miss?
    Bolting to the concrete.

I have a National Security from the 90s and the best info I can find says it weighs about 2000 lbs. I called safe movers from Houston to San Antonio to Dallas and one guy in Houston said he could move that. He came with a slick hydraulic drop deck trailer and moved it with a dolly that can shift its load up and down. It took 2 guys about an hour and a half to move from one house to another.

You have neighbors? Our safes are inset into the wall in the walk-in closet. There is dead space between the closet and the master bath. I have no idea how the builder got them in there.
