I wish it was that easy LOL

Wife and I had already discussed the “not meeting expectations” part. And we were thinking of how we wanted to approach things.

Before we got a chance, the nanny let us know that she found a house to rent and was moving out.

We were relieved that she left on her own accord, so we didn’t have to give her the boot.

But she totally slow-played the move out.

She was supposed to be gone on a particular Friday, which was perfect for us because we had guests (wife’s sister and niece) coming to stay for a week beginning on Saturday. And another guest for three weeks after the sister leaves.

Well, the week preceding her move out, she didn’t pack shit, and spent her time sunbathing in our backyard.

As the move out Friday was drawing near, my wife asked her WTF why aren’t you packing?

The nanny said “oh I was just gonna wait and pack when your sister gets here”. So my wife read her the riot act, because this plan makes absolutely no sense.

Who waits until the day after their planned move-out date to pack???

We told her to get everything you can but you need to be gone by Friday EOD. And you can come get the rest of your crap when guest #2 leaves.

Cut to today, guest #2 is gone, and nanny is coming tomorrow to get her things. But not everything, just some things she wants…and now it’s my responsibility to dispose of a half-garage-full of crap that she doesn’t want to take.

Pack it up, cart everything to the curb on the day she comes to pick up her crap, and let her know that it will not be going back into your house, and you will not stop the garbagemen or anyone else from taking it.

Sometimes, people need a little push.

She sounds like a real piece of trash

    Your words not mine

    .

I hope it didn't mess up the relationship too bad.

Houseguest #2 came and stayed with us a few months ago.
    She’s literally my wife’s BFF.

Nanny decided that #2 was now her friend, too.

Turns out, nanny recently called #2 and was talking shit about my wife. #2 told this to my wife…she was LIVID but at this point nanny had already moved out.

My wife would have thrown her out of the house had nanny still been here.

So the relationship is kaput at this point.
We did right by her mentor to take his widow in…we tried.

Find where she moved to....dump crap in front of her place....set on fire....

    ....worked for Angela Bassett.....

We’re thinking Craigslist or Garage sale

    ^^^This.^^^

Former nanny knows the days the garbage runs, so send her a text saying this right here, and if she gets her stuff then fine, if not, then it's her own fault.

Finally got rid of most stuff with minimal effort.

Donated some stuff to folks in need at our church. Gave my contractor’s laborer a bunch of stuff.

Still have a freezer full of weight watchers meals. I think the new babysitter said she’d take it

Even though the experiment went south, you actually got off very lucky. There are thousands of folks who thought they were doing the right thing by opening their homes to people in need or who had fallen into a bad situation. Of course, we sometimes learn the hard way that, even if you know someone socially or through family, we never really know what a person is like until you live with them.

Glad the departure worked out all right...also glad you did not stay in California or the similar situation would have turned into a major nightmare with the socialists all on her side and against you as the homeowner.

I know someone right now who has had an inlaw camped out at their home for a year now and that situation is far from healthy.

I owned CA rental property heading into the recession.

Squatters nearly ruined me…nothing I could do.
I’d imagine it’s even worse today.
