The issue with my son made me wonder "how" can I/we explain to these folks that the direction they want to take the country - will destroy the country as we know it. It has become readily apparent there is little to nothing that can be said/done to convince them of that fact. I believe the conversation with my son is very indicative of a conversation I would have with any of the lefts blind believers. Whenever I'd bring up blm's illegal actions, immoral actions, and actions that simply defy common sense and courtesy I was met with: invalid justification for illegal actions. Minimized/marginalized excuses/acceptance of anything/everything blm is doing. It's "OK" because it's blm and they're justified in using any means/methods to further their cause simply because.... they are blm.

I've come to the conclusion that the only way they'll ever understand/accept how wrong they are, how detrimental their ideas are for this great country is to let them win, let them experience what they think they want, in short let them experience the results of their decisions/action. A lot like most parents do when raising children when trying the teach the fact that there are consequences associated with their decisions. Some times the consequences are good - sometimes not. And just as quickly as I came to that realization I also realize - we simply can not allow that to happen.

The things I've highlighted are the very things I mentioned. Those are the things that got marginalized/ minimalized or totally ignored. I specifically asked why blm was not actively/positively working in the Chicago area to reduce the number of black deaths by black shooters? Ignored.

People must first have a set of moral values, some democrats still do (Center), but those who have gone FAR Left, no longer possess morals that are similar to those to the Right in any fashion. I believe that the socialists are on the edge of taking over this country. I also believe that until someone takes Trump's Twitter account away from him he will continue to give the socialist media all the food they need to pander to the low information, public school indoctrinated American citizen.

The Democrat party had ensured the American public who are illiterate, and or educated in American schools (private and public) over the last 60 years who accepted the socialist training without question (they do not know it as socialist - communist - progressive whatever you want to call it) are being turned against Trump by placing legislation in the House which passes. Then the media is hammering the fact the Republican Party in the Senate is not acting on those Bills and thereby denying the American Public their rights, their due and all sorts of "good for America".

The nation as it now exists is at a crossroads. It can only go one way. I do not think that it can continue to limp along as it is now. I fear the number of people right now, who would fight for the country as it is is swiftly becoming a minority. Certainly if the Democrats take over both Houses of Congress , the Presidency it is over. The nail in the coffin is Ginzberg dying or retiring from the Supreme Court if Biden wins and is replaced by ohhhh say.... Obama.

Think it can not happen? Let us talk about this in 10 years.

The number of people willing to fight has always been a minority. The vast majority of people are far more content letting someone else fight for them and hoping for the best.

I’ve had similar conversations with my two daughters. I am absolutely flabbergasted with what comes out of their mouths and what they profess to believe.
We must live in completely different worlds - different universes.
I am genuinely scared for their future and for that of our country.
I hope, no, I pray, they and their generation are going through phase they’ll grow out of before they ruin the country that has allowed them the privilege of being able to worry about these matters vs worrying about where their next meal comes from or whether the well will give out or their safety when the fall asleep.
Kid1 is about to graduate from TAMU with an engineering degree. She’s not a stupid kid; but is naive and lacking any comparative experiences that would allow her to understand the starting point from which she’s judging the “unfairness” and “systemic racism”. Maybe more importantly is that she seems blind to the generational effort, hard work and sacrifices that has gotten our country to the point where we CAN individually rise above any circumstances if we want to badly enough.
Kid2 isn’t stupid either, but is too much like me for me to be able to stomach a serious conversation. We end up so mad at each other we can’t speak to each other for days.
Point is, these kids have willingly consumed (or been fed) so much garbage, that they really believe that police brutality is a universally common occurrence in America and “the system” is so broken it can’t be fixed...that somehow racism is the simultaneously the cause of all white success and the cause of all black failure....and that unequal access to (fill in the blank) is deliberate and a direct result of systemic, overt and deliberate racism.
Their thinking is so rigid and binary - zero sum - so, obviously targeted at all that so many of our countrymen and women have labored for generations to build and sustain.... it makes me so sad to hear them babbling and regurgitating the social media fueled talking points....

With some people, you are never going to convince them that somethings are wrong, or are headed in the wrong direction no matter how much proof or evidence you show them. Many of them will even become more determined, as you show them more and more proof and evidence and that your proof and evidence are either flawed, or simply lies.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink. Stop trying to convince people, regardless of who they are. Haven't we had very similar discussions with, and about those who are anti-gun proponents? That with many, trying to convince them about guns and gun rights were nothing more than wastes of energy and time, and simply acts of futility. And where did it get any one of us? No where. But here we are. And over the last several months, what are we now seeing? Gun and ammo sales have increased to over 71%. And I would believe that many of those are first time gun buyers.

People have to come their own conclusions and make their own decisions about things. Just the way it has to be. It's not going to change what I think I need to do, or what I am going to do. I'm just not going to waste my time or energy trying to convince people that socialism is bad and even though history supports and proves it's a bad way to run a government and a country.

It it were up to me, I'd declare all of these subversive groups as traitors, revoke their citizenship and pack them on ships and planes headed to the closest socialist ran country and deport them there. And some of the first ones I would declare traitors are in Washington DC.

I know I'm not ready to turn this great country over to socialist ran nonsense yet. And I'll do all I can to keep it from happening.

When I joined the board my first message had in the subject field "I don't know what's coming but I'm trying to get ready for it!" Nothing has changed. My problem... or one of many problems, is I have two other young'uns. They ain't in dipers @ 33 & 34 yo. The daughter sorta get's it relative to what's going on in the world today - sorta. The youngest son is in LA and has been for 5 or so years, maybe longer. If you ask him he'll tell you he's wise beyond his years when the reality is - he isn't. He has his position staked out in the middle of the road. He does not yet realize there is no middle of the road so polarized the country has now become.
