Saw some advertised prices that were almost reasonable and almost took the bait.

With shipping, it still would have been almost double of what it was pre-pandemic and pre FJB. I figure when companies start to see an uptick in sales, that's where the prices are going to level off. So, I'm not going to do it. Supply and demand, correct?

I know my decision won't, single-handedly, make a difference. Still, it's the principle of the thing for me.

2016 ammo prices are probably never going to come back. It took 8 years of zero, and a predicted win by clinton, upset by Trump.

All that ramping up, and sudden drop off of demand. Manufacturers could barely get stuff to move, distributors had tons of inventory, prices dropped.

With covid restrictions and the d's realizing that they can just do whatever they want, I'd be amazed if they allow themselves to get into a position to have a repeat of 2016 again.

You're right if for no other reason than inflation, but ammo prices are still tracking 2-3x higher than average inflation.

I was pretty serious about stacking it deep for a few years so I can be patient. I feel bad for the folks just now getting into shooting, but at least they don't have to compete with me trying to buy ammo as well.

I bought a couple hundred rounds of 9mm earlier this month, just to replace what I used at the range. Found some Federal AE 124gr fmj at Outdoor Super Store online for $15.99 per box of 50. Thought that was a comparatively decent price these days. After tax and $10.99 shipping, it came out to a little over $20 a box. That's about $6.50 a box more than I was paying in October 2019 for delivered ammo.

I only buy enough anymore to keep my stock level even @ around 2k in 9mm and 45.
