My dad gave me this old remigton model 11 12ga. I don't know much about these so I have been doing some research but I still have some unanswered questions.
It seems like the barrel was cut shorter and modified with the external threads; can anyone confirm this is an aftermarket modification? The barrel is about 21.5" long. If this was an aftermarket mod; what would have been the reason/s for this?
The stock/butt looks like it was extended as well.
From what I could find out this is a sportsman model with the 5 shot capacity; does that look correct?
I am also curious what the value would be on something like this because I am considering selling it? I have dove hunted with it and it works great.

I read these rules and don't see any violation as it doesn't mention anywhere that it prohibits the discussion of value. This is not a listing to sell it; it is not for sale. I am however curious of the value which will help me decide if I feel like it would be worth listing in the future.

It's trashed. The stocks homemade spacer the hacked barrel and those threads on the end are God only knows. Could be what's left of an adjustable choke and it looks rusted as well. Maybe $200 on a good day to the right person.
That's not far off from what I was expecting on value but calling it trashed and rusted seems like a stretch. Other than the modifications it looks pretty typical/decent shape for a well used hunting shotgun that's 80 years old; and as I mentioned it works perfectly. I appreciate the honest feedback though

It has been modified in several odd ways that does nothing for value. Chopped barrel, modified for a missing choke system, and a butt stock that was chopped, and then extended, plus a pad added. It does not hold much value. $150-200 on a good day.

Hello and welcome. If your dad gave gave this gun to you, maybe it's worth more to you than what you can sell it for. Just my 2c
This is exactly why I was curious about the value. It doesn't have much sentimental value becasue he acquired it later in life as a trade and gave it to me almost immediately. He never used it or had an attachment to it. I have an old jc higgins bolt action 410 that he gave me 30 years ago that was his; he traded an old banana seat schwinn for it when he was a kid, I will never sell that one or my first .22 that he gave me.

I suspect the gun originally had factory Lyman Cutts compensator which was removed later. Lyman Cutts were quite common on Browning Auto 5 clones like Rem 11 and Savage 720. I have one on my USAF Savage 720. They were screwed in and soldered so removal isn't a very easy and pleasant work.

I would use it for a gun show trade of some kind if you don't have an emotional connection to it. Bummer the Lyman is missing.

Could always convert it to a pistol for the nightstand......:bring:
