To be honest, probably not in this messed up state. One thing people don't know or understand about California is how litigious it is. You might be able to use your pepper spray under dire conditions and not be prosecuted, but to use high volume cans like the bear spray would probably be illegal. I'll have to look it up. In California, you may well be within your rights to defend yourself, but criminals can and do successfully sue here in civil court for "damages" that you've done to them when defending yourself. Yep, it's that insane here. Don't forget, this is the state that brought the nation the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Henry Waxman, Barbara Boxer, and Maxine Waters.
