I carry a Dan Wesson Valkyrie in .45 IWB. 7+1 and two spare magazines in a Don Hume mag holder. Easily concealed. An altercation may be solved in 5 rounds or less but God help you if you have a magazine failure or in the heat of the moment you drop your only spare magazine.

I EDC a Glock 48 equipped with the Shield Arms 15 round magazine. I rarely carry a backup mag on me, but I do keep one or two in the truck.

I don't carry all of my guns. The ones that get elevated to EDC after proving themselves get holsters made for EDC. Most commercial holsters are serviceable and moderately comfortable, but not really great for every day carry. When the custom holster is ordered, from Tucker or Bullard, i get the belt and mag carrier at the same time.

How much ammo I carry various with the situation. If I'm running inside C store for a pack of gum, I usually only have my G43 and no spare mag.

If I'm walking around the stockyards in Fort Worth I usually have a CCW , spare mag and a folding gun in a backpack. Like my CZ Scorpion or Sub 2000 with with 2 full mags because the back pack allows me to do this very comfortably.

Shouldn't this be "How much ammo do you carry? "Should" covers all places & circumstances. Too wide an issue.

For me depends on when, where, how, and which weapons.

To work, 10+1 loaded & 10 in extra mag. Around town, 45 to 65, all in gun or mags.

In wilds, at least 50 for each weapon.

Ammo on you or Ammo Available?
I travel a lot, so I'm that guy.
On me, Glock 43x w/ Shield Mags.- One in the gun, two spares. 46 rounds total.

Lock box underneath the back seat-
    MK18, 7 mags- Roughly 210rds of 5.56mm
    Glock 17 or 34- 6 Magpul 21 round p-mags 85-rounds total
TREX Plate Carrier with Level 4 Esapi Ceramic or Hesco U210s
Battle Belt w/ TREX holster, Medical, mag pouches, and dump pouch.
    Chem lights and Extra Batteries.
    Food for 3 days.
Most of this fits in a Vertx Contingency 45 Duffle that I take up with me everywhere I stay. The rest stays in a bailout bag or the lock box.
Why? Because a 4 hour drive is a three day walk.
Yeah it may seem excessive, but then, maybe you should ask me about my out of state load out.
