    Gunz are icky.
As a customer in gun shop how do you like to see the handguns displayed?
On a glass shelf in a display case?
On the wall behind the counter?
On shelf with green felt underneath?

    What do you think?

Felt backing is nice so it's easier to see. High off the ground so I don't have to stoop is also nice. But, honestly, if it's the model I want and the price is right it doesn't mater how they are displayed. Absolutely have the price tags visible.

I’m the kind of buyer/looker that does not ask the salesperson to show 15 pistols and then walk away. If I ask to see a handgun there is a possibility that I might buy. Plus most of the young salespeople don’t know shit from peanut butter.

Because of this I really inspect the guns through the glass. I’m the only guy that is down on my knees looking at handguns.

The best handgun display I have seen was in a pawnshop in Whitehouse, TX. It was a custom Chest high glass countertop finished in rough cedar with shelves going down to knee level. It was so nice not having to bend down to look at the top shelf. And even better not having to get on my knees to see the bottom shelf.

All 3 of our local gun shops do it very well: Glass cases, guns upright on stands, prices visible. Sorted by Caliber, action type, new, then another section with Used.

1 store has an entire case of 9mm semis, with the micros on top, getting larger as it goes left-right and top to bottom... next case is 40semis, then 45semis, and then various semis. Next case is Revos and specialty, then a case of used, again, in order. They have well over 60 9mms semis, about 40-50 .40s, and well over 60 .45s.

All 3 have a VERY nice selection, with easily better than 100 pistols, probably closer to 200+.

most of the displays look a lot like this, just with more variety: (pic pulled off of the internet, not actual stores)

Not real particular. By manufacturer, with the price, model and caliber visible if in a case. At least accessible with a tag like at the gun shows.

    With some easily decernable order....
    This is important.

The best displays I have seen usually have them grouped by manufacturer or by type (SAAs together, 1911s together, polymer autos near the bottom). Please have large print cards next to each telling me the make, model, and price.

    There is a gun there?
    Donno, haven't gotten that far

On the topic of display. Doesn't really matter to me, as long as there's clear easy to find labeling for what is what. If I'm interested I wanna see it in my hands, then in my car, then hide it there for a few days and sneak it in the house.
