How do I find the age of my car through the vin

I just bought a old Vw bug and I'm not sure what year it was made in. I'm sure that it is between 1963 and 1965. All the free sites on the web are for cars built after 1981. Any help would be great.

You can call your local VW dealership and a service advisor would be able to help.

Post a few pictures of the front, rear and dash and we should be able to figure it out.

Or look at the tail lenses. On the old cars, the year model was stamped on the lens.

Had a Sinclaire 3 bay from 68 to 72 full serve.

It's that good old 40 horse in it. My plan is to put a 1776cc in it and dual webers carbs. Thanks again for all the help.
