I was being lazy, I misplaced my empty mixing cans. So I found a red solo type cup (DG brand) and proceeded to mix up a 3 to 1 poly varnish and mineral spirits. OOPS about 30 minutes into the project the cup melted!!!

Oh hell, this was a first time one melted, of course I haven't used this type of cup in 15 years, formula must have changed. I went and found my misplaced metal cans, this will not happen again!

    Back to work.

Moral of the story is we shouldn’t be lazy but all are guilty from time to time.

Yeah, I was in a rush to start applying varnish to the slats of a bench I am reworking. The old slats were badly rotted and are in need of replacement. I will be applying varnish to the underside of the slats today and finish painting the iron. I have to grind off the rest of the carriage bolts, I will be replacing with stainless, while not perfect I hope it will not rust as badly.
