    Some BD-R manufactures will claim a 30 year life, but in reality it's more like 5-10 years. Just FYI...
    I'm finding this out the hard way. :(

    Some gunsmithing videos, e-books, and family photos I burned to DVD-R in 2003 are now unreadable.

    I looked into https://www.mdisc.com but found out it was a scam. They are just BD-R discs with marketing.

    I'm still researching for a good solution that will survive solar flares.

    Solid state drive, inside a metal tin, inside your safe, with a ground strap connected to it.

    That's a good temporary measure, but it won't survive the X-45 class solar flares that are coming as the earth's magnetic field goes to zero.

    In 1985 I lost two month's of work and didn't get paid when a stupid Forrest Products Engineer put my 360k disk next to his magnetic paperclip holder.

    Some type of physical storage like optical is the only media that will survive.
