Holy hell

Got bored and decided to load up some rounds for my Sako L61R.

I have a bunch of 150gr and 165-168gr bullets that never shot well in my 308 or 300wm. Reviewing the hornady reload manual and wanting to really utilize SSTs, I went with IMR 4064 and the 150gr SST

I loaded three shot groups at 52, 53, 53.5, 54, 54.5 and 55 grains. The magic happened at 53.5 with a 0.22” group. Damn glad I have a 30 caliber rifle now that can group 150s

I also brought my Ruger American in 300WM to try out some 165gr SST loads that I had loaded awhile ago and I was able to get a 0.54” group but I forgot to take pictures of that one

When I saw that’s what I figured. I was thinking about if it would tighten up more from a heavy bench with a ransom rest

Id take it to an actual range and use my lead sled but with the baby its hard to get down to caddo mills.

0.22” is insane though. I just randomly selected those grain amounts based off the velocities I would be ok with from the Hornady manual.I wanted to see if I could work up some rounds for axis deer season but I wasnt expecting such a great group like this so fast. Ill take it though

Very nice shooting. Be prepared for someone to gripe that three shots ain't enough for a group.

Yea everyone on my lease decided collectively to not hunt axis there this year. I am heading to a buddys ranch this year to hunt. Its high fence but whatever I need ground axis meat

Thats a good question. I need to look it up. It shot factory 180gr powershoks decently. I think around 1 moa from what I remember

Most accurate out of the box I ever had was a Sako in 222 Remington mag. Pop golf balls at 200 meters all day long with factory ammo.
