Would like to find a semi-drop point knife with a partially sharpened top edge for hog skinning.
I have a nifty Iron Will K1. It's got a slick feature where the front of the top of the blade is sharpened:
The idea is that you use the top edge to cut the skin in order to save the main edge for cutting and breaking joints. The K2 companion knife has a deep belly for skinning.
Love the knife. Use it occasionally deer hunting to quickly field dress. That said, it's kinda small for regular use. I'd like a bigger, heavier option.
Bradford has a Nice hunter with a false edge on top. How hard would it be to grind and sharpen that to give me the same utility?
I have a couple of Guardian 3s in M390, and they are remarkable. With a couple of passes on the steel, the edge holds up amazingly well. I'd still like to try an edge on the top, for maybe an inch or up to the mid grind line, though.
Thoughts? Doable?
