I used to go to Tampa a lot almost 20 years ago.
Some fun places on Dale Mabry...
The first time I was here, it was 2004. I was on a long-term project and stayed the first stretch of seven weeks. When I told my wife I went grocery shopping next to a strip club and across the street from another, she asked, “just what part of town are you *in*?” I told her, it looks like (a street in a very nice suburb near our house in Wisconsin at the time). She didn’t believe me. I took her for a drive down Dale Mabry a few months later. She agreed with my initial response.

It's OK to say Mons Venus, we all know what you're talking about!

OldGnome, welcome to TGT! As a former Floridian (grew up in Jax) and USAFer, I've spent a lot of time in Tampa (MacDill). In fact, I was just there this past June.

Unlike many locals, I actually like Tropicana Field and have been to several games there (I try to time my trips to when the Orioles are in town).

Otherwise, I try to avoid Florida. I've spent too much time there (I also went to UF) and have no desire to go back, which is why we ended up in Texas. As you said, it's a great state and I'll probably spend the rest of my days here; unless I can convince the wife to move to Colorado Springs (which technically is/was a part of the Texas Republic!). ;)
