I wonder what the average cost of a traditional Turkey Day meal is this year?
I told my mother that I'd smoke a ham, but after seeing $3.99 a pound for a ham at HEB, I just bought some pork chops for $1.99 a pound.
Turkey's were the same price!
Grocery prices are getting completely out of hand.

I did good for once and shopped at a Kroger. The deals is/was: spend $20+ at one time, get turkey at 49c/lb. Spend $125+ at one time, get the turkey free. Sounds like alot but a 50# bag of dog food is nearly half that. Plus laundry soap, P-towels, and some sides for the many mouths to feed... free turkey this year.

When I lived in upstate NY turkeys would fly over my house. Across the street was higher than my house, turkeys can't take off very well but put in a hill and they can soar. When they flew through the woods behind my house you could here branches breaking.
