    Is that aimed at me?

If so whatever you want. Obviously not the best long term setup but budget friendly and portable.

Hang some steel and get to shooting.
I was asking Major. I believe certain setups are better for certain styles of shooting. I've tinkered with them all. Its taking time for me to have my favorite setup. But, ya it's not rocket science. Whatever gets ya ringing steel. Get'er done

agreed, and would add that "where you shoot and how you get there" are equally valid.

For example, got a crap-ton of land and can set up long-term stationary targets? First, awesome! second, use whatever you feel like that works.

Have to transport between home and range/land/etc.? Well, what are you driving? plates are plates, but a tube full of 5' rebar sections (or smaller tubes ;) ) is gonna be much more of a pain to transport in, say, a jeep wrangler, vs. using free-standing hooks.

Also, if transporting back any broken/mangled targets is a potential issue, may be best to avoid "single use" target stands...
