Im the new guy with a stupid question.
I recently began restoring an original Snake Charmer built by H Koons in 1970’s
The stock on mine is finished maple, not the usual polymer black. On the underside of the forearm written in magic marker is the number 37. This is the only number anywhere on the gun. Any comments or information would be greatly appreciated. I will post pictures once I have it assembled
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum

In the 70s and 80s those snake charmers were at every gun shop and gun show. I had no idea that they made a wooden version.

Is you question what does the number 37 mean?

If so, it could be a number of things only limited by your imagination.

It could be a job #, or batch number. It could reference a specific lot of wood stock blanks.

It could be the employee that did the stock fitting. It might be referring to a specific revision that was made, or what type of hardware was used.

Gun companies, and other manufacturers use various codes from the simple to complex. The 37 could mean it was built in march of ‘77, or the 37th run, or gun #37 with wood.

‘Chances are, only an original factory worker would know for sure.

I've seen a bunch of those old Snake Charmers and even had a couple of them. I've never seen one with a wooden stock and forearm. Pretty good looking wood.

I don't know where this is going, but love that wood. My snake charmer comes out of the safe once a decade weather it wants to or not. Some wood would sure help its looks.

Thanks for the reply’s Glad to be here. It’s been a safe dweller and was given to me by an old rancher friend. He has since past. The plastic trigger was broken and I found a replacement at Numrich firearms.
It had been disassembled and zip tied together. I have been able to find any information on this particular model. I’ll post more pictures once it’s complete.

    In the woods...
I had one of the short, black plastic stocked ones years ago. My ex kept it when she became a housekeeper. I left and she kept the house.
Dang that was a mean woman. Not sure what I was thinking...

    Finished Snake Charmer
Gunsmith spoke with several contacts he has and from what they can tell this gun was one of the originals that Koons build before changing the stocks to poly to make it weather proof for fishermen
