Interesting, El Camp is a small town. How will it compete with Carrol’s gunshop. Those guys are good and have a pretty good selection.

Technically, Carroll's is at Wharton. R&M is much, much better. I don't even visit Carroll's any longer.

When did Academy start this policy? Several years ago I bought a rifle at an Academy in MS and got a delay. I called them a few days later and picked the rifle up. If I'm banned from purchasing guns from them, I'll refrain from shopping in their stores again.

I was told this by the ATF Guy we spoke with. I did not experience that.

As I see we still have many “Academy” supporters, I’m going to ask of everyone:

If Academy would disappear tomorrow, how much would it be missed ?

If our Local Gun Shops would all disappear ?

Just remember that if you have a problem, Mr. Academy won’t be around to help you. Your Local Gun Shop likely would IF you are a known customer.

I’d rather pay 5 or 10% more and have my LGS available.

Having returned a rifle to Ruger when you get a “label “ then you need a box and then you need to bring it to a distributor center. Easy just to bring it to Academy. Not every gun company pays both ways.

I read it was 10% but not sure. FFL transfers probably better.

Iirc it's usually around 7%, usually less if it's something competitively priced with internet prices

Transfers are pure profit. Transfers, ammo/accessories are what makes you the most money
