Any chance you will run some of these same tactics type courses handgun only? Civi folks have a minimal likely hood of implementing a rifle in my estimation. I do understand the tactics remain the same regardless of weapon in hand. Secondarily, is ballistic protection required (plates, helmet, etc.)?

So, I cover limited vehicle tactics during my concealed carry tactics course. However, it is tailored to what you would most likely expect ad an every day licensed carrier. The Vehicle Tactics Course is beyond that. When you are bounding from contact, you will rapidly exceed your effective range of engagement with a pistol.

Tactics are tactics when moving in and around vehicles, but the Vehicle Tactics course progresses to moving to and from vehicles. If you think a full vehicle tactics course makes sense for you, you probably want to consider if you are only carrying a pistol in your vehicle. If not, Concealed Carry Tactics would be more up your alley as it covers immediate threats in and around these transition areas.

Oh, plates and helmets are not required for these courses.

Thanks Eric, I appreciate the detailed response. I'll keep my eyes open for the Concealed Carry Tactics course in 2018....if I get to the end of that class looking for more vehicle specific tactics i'll pursue the full vehicle class. I do appreciate that the classes don't require those things...they have become a huge barrier for entry into quite a few training classes.

No worries. I generally encourage people to me minimalistic with what they bring to courses to de-complicate things. I only require enhanced personal protective equipment when, after a risk assessment of the training, it becomes prudent.
